A timeless example of nonsense literature, HJBRL (first published in Bengali as HaJaBaRaLa) showcases the genius of Sukumar Ray. A world where handkerchiefs become cats, and a crow does accounting, nothing is as it seems. Featuring a wild array of characters that inexplicably come and go and give the oddest reasons for their actions, children will gravitate towards this classic tale and will be regaled with the colourful artwork that reimagines it for a newer age.

Sukumar Ray was among the most prolific and beloved writers of children’s literature in the early 20th century. The father of the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, Sukumar’s tales were full of imaginative wordplay, topical satire and wild nonsense, creating phrases and characters that have become commonplace in contemporary Bengali pop culture.
