About Author

Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) was an American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Hemingway developed a distinctive style characterized by economy and understatement. He served as an ambulance driver in World War I, experiences that inspired many of his works, including A Farewell to Arms. Hemingway’s adventurous life included time as a war correspondent, big game hunter, and deep- sea fisherman.
